About Us

The silent reading rave is a non-profit association based in Zurich that aims to celebrate the joy of reading and promote literature throughout Switzerland.

The association organises free events at various locations where everyone brings their own reading material and ‘reads together alone’. The raves take place in venues such as cafés, museums, parks, cultural sites and bookshops. The events are intended to be free of any obligation to consume.
Inclusion and acceptance are the ideological basis of our association. Everyone is welcome to read and leave again. Accessibility for as many people as possible is very important to us. Racism, queerphobia, sexism, ableism, ageism and all other forms of discrimination have no place at our events.
